Speaker: Anne S. McKnight, EdD, LCSW, LICSW

This day explores the concept of cutoff in family systems theory. Often people distance, withdraw, or sever contact from relationships that are intense or overwhelming. In doing so, they can leave unresolved issues to fester and remain unresolved. Cutoff robs people of facts about and resources from their family. On the other hand, at times cutoff is preservative for an individual who is feeling overwhelmed or threatened. This day will explore the concept of cutoff and illustrate two individuals’ efforts to address the impact of cutoff on their lives.
