Much research has focused on the impact of childhood adversity, including maltreatment, on the developmental process and vulnerability to developing symptoms in adulthood. There is also research on the continued capacity of the human to develop over the lifetime. This conference will explore the variability of the impact of early adversity on life outcomes from the point of view of Bowen theory. In addition, through videotaped clinical interviews, the day will focus on how the effort toward differentiation of self in the family can reverse some of those impacts.

Speaker: Anne S. McKnight, EdD, LCSW, LICSW
