Kathleen Smith is a licensed professional counselor and writer. A graduate of The George Washington University and Harvard University, she also works as a mental health journalist. Her writing has been featured on popular websites like Salon, Slate, New York Magazine, Lifehacker, Bustle, HelloGiggles, and Thought Catalog. Kathleen is also a frequent contributor to professional psychology publications such as GradPsych, Monitor on Psychology, Psychotherapy Networker, Family Therapy, and Counseling Today.

Kathleen trained in the postgraduate program at the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family from 2012-2014. She also teaches as an adjunct professor at Trinity Washington University and runs her own private therapy practice in Washington, DC.
