Keo L. Miller, MSW

Keo L. Miller, a licensed clinical social worker and longtime student of Bowen theory, has applied family systems theory in various clinical and educational settings, including the Fairfax County Schools and the Corcoran College of Art and Design. She has served as adjunct professor for Virginia Commonwealth University and field instructor for the University of Maryland. She served on the Bowen Center’s clinical staff, 2003-2005, and was appointed to the faculty in 2006.

At the Bowen Center, she coordinated the Thursday Professional Lecture Series and served on the Research Committee and on the editorial board of Family Systems. Her research areas have included: the impact of Darwin’s theory of evolution on 19th century society, the societal function of religion, and the emotional aspects of learning. She has presented widely on these topics. Viewing laughter in an evolutionary context has been an area for her research.
