2nd International Conference in Hong Kong
The 2nd International Conference on Bowen Family Systems Theory was held May 17-19, 2018 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
As the first international conference based in Asia, this meeting stimulated interest and engagement with theory by many participants around the world who had not previously had the opportunity to hear Bowen theory presented and discussed. Many of the lectures and discussions were led by the leaders of Bowen centers in the United States and Canada who attended the conference to give basic lectures on Bowen theory, workshops on the application of family systems ideas, and more in-depth theoretical programs. Attendees were also able to engage with Bowen thinkers from five continents and were inspired to view the breadth of cultures in which family systems ideas were relevant. The conference provided the opportunity for the exchange of ideas by participants with one another about their various programs and theoretical interests.
Meeting Coordinator: Ms. Peggy Chan, Director of Programme at ISS Family Institute
Sponsors: Co-organized by the ISS Family Institute, International Social Service Hong Kong Branch (ISS-HK) and the Department of Applied Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
A more detailed report on the 2nd International Conference is available in Issue 14:1 of the Family Systems Journal.
