Public Transportation

There are no Metro stops in Georgetown. The D5 and D6 buses make limited stops near 4400 MacArthur Blvd. Please consult the Metro Trip Planner for the best route and bus times or use any map app on your mobile device.

Taking the D6 - If you're using public transportation from downtown DC to visit the Bowen Center, take the D6 bus and get off at the corner of Foxhall Road and MacArthur Blvd NW. If you're leaving the Bowen Center to return downtown, you can catch the D6 as well. Walk north up MacArthur Blvd. and take a right onto Q St NW. The bus stop will be on the right side of the road in front of the tennis courts.

Taking the D5 - The D5 bus runs during rush hour, eastbound to Farragut Square from MacArthur Blvd. in the morning. So you cannot use it to get to the Center until evening. You can board the D5 at Farragut Square or Georgetown (M St and Wisconsin) and get off at MacArthur Blvd. and Q St NW. Because of its limited times, the D6 bus is a better option.

Driving Directions

If you are coming from the Key Bridge:

·      On Canal Rd., stay in the left lane.

·      Turn left at the stoplight at the intersection/fork of MacArthur Blvd. and Foxhall Rd.

·      4400 MacArthur Blvd. will be on your left (circled in red below).

·     Drive a little past 4400 MacArthur Blvd. until you see Lingan Road, which is located between 4400 and 4434.

·     Turn left onto Lingan Road (marked in red below).

·      Take the first left onto the parking lot (pictured below).

 ·      The gravel lot will be straight ahead, facing the woods.

 

If you are coming from Clara Barton Parkway:

Important: There are roads along this route that may be closed or follow a different traffic pattern during certain hours of the day. Please check before proceeding!

·      Take Clara Barton Pkwy., which turns into Canal Rd., until the intersection/fork to Reservoir Rd. (first left after Arizona Ave).

·      Take Reservoir Rd. up to the light, and turn right onto MacArthur Blvd.

·      STAY TO THE RIGHT when the road forks, to stay on MacArthur Blvd.

·      Turn right onto Lingan Rd. (marked in red below).

·      Take the first left onto the parking lot (pictured below).

·      The gravel lot will be straight ahead, facing the woods.

Parking

Free parking is located in-between 4400 and 4380 MacArthur Blvd. Please park only on the gravel lot. If you park on the paved lot, you may be ticketed or towed. Parking on the gravel lot is first-come, first-served.

There is also free two-hour parking (zone 3 permit holders excepted) after 9:30 am on MacArthur Blvd. Please refer to the parking signs on MacArthur Blvd for any updated information.

Walking Directions

These walking directions will take you from the gravel lot to the building’s front entrance:

  • Make a left around the building and proceed until you see the front of the building (pictured below).

·      Go up the stairs onto the mezzanine.

·      To your left, enter through the glass doors (circled in red below).

·      Once you are inside the building, go down the stairs to the first floor.

·      The entrance to the Bowen Center will be to your right.
